History
The Swedish Art and Antique Dealers’ Association, SKAF, was founded in 1963 at the Mornington Hotel in Stockholm, initiated by art dealer Gregor Aronowitsch, who also served as the association’s first chairman. The aim was to promote the interests of art and antique dealers, encourage collaboration within the industry, and safeguard quality and cultural heritage. These values still guide the association’s work today.
SKAF currently represents 55 members active in Sweden and Finland. Its members are specialists in a wide range of fields, from antique furniture, art and design to silver, glass, jewellery, carpets, books, folk art and African art. They are among Sweden’s foremost experts in their respective areas.
SKAF maintains high standards for its members and ensures that customers can purchase with confidence. Membership requires in-depth knowledge, consistent quality in both objects and service, and adherence to the association’s code of ethics.
CINOA
At an international level, SKAF is affiliated to CINOA, Confédération Internationale des Négociants en Œuvres d’Art, founded in 1935. Through affiliation to CINOA, which stands for high quality on the international scene, SKAF’s members gain access to the world market in art, antiques and design.
Members
The members of the Swedish Art and Antique Dealers’ Association are active across Sweden and Finland. Together they cover a vast area of knowledge through their specialties in everything from silver, jewelry, classical antiques, African art, design, photography, painting and much more. The art, design and antique dealers in SKAF are among the foremost and most sought-after experts within their particular field of knowledge. They guarantee quality, knowledge and good service.
